Introduction to Cornering:
The correct speed for the average corner is 20km/hr. Note: A bend is not a corner and must be treated as such. Each bend is unique and must be treated on it’s own merit. Approach all corners, and keep moving unless you have to stop at a stop sign or a red light. Approach left hand corners about half a car width from the kerb, so your rear wheel won’t clip the kerb. Watch the kerbline and start your turn as soon as the kerb starts to turn, checking your right hand side for any evasive action required. Finish your turn no more than one car width from the kerb, unless there are parked cars there.

Some More Handy Hints going for your P’s:
Give parked cars enough room for drivers to open the car door and go round them straddling the white line if needed.
For right hand turns, approach the intersection to the left. Don’t start to turn until the nose of your car is beyond the fence line of the street you are entering. finish your turn a little to the left of the centre line.
A lot of importance is placed on cornering when you are going for your driving test. If you don’t follow the correct method, it will cost you demerit points as well as a excess speed. speed over 1Km could be a fail.
